We’re building a new way to search where you can write normally — like you would to a friend — and get tailored beach suggestions based on your needs, plus live data like weather, wind and water quality.
Next step is expanding up to the Central Coast and down to Wollongong…then eventually much further
Features currently being crafted for the app.
We’re working on making suggestions based on conditions (wind, weather etc) so you don’t have to figure it all out yourself.
Right now it’s a web app — but we’re working towards getting it into the Apple App Store and Google Play so it feels like a proper native app.
We’ve integrated Beachwatch data for pollution + water clarity, but we’re still refining how it works in the app to make sure it’s actually helpful and accurate.
There are a few walks missing — mainly around the southern end (Maroubra → Malabar, Watsons Bay → Bondi, La Perouse area, Royal National Park etc). We only add walks we’ve personally done so we can properly map distance, terrain, photos etc — so they’re coming, just not rushed.
We’re slowly building this out so you can find the best cafés near every beach. Goal is to cover the entire coastline - we’re getting there!
We’re currently converting all images to webp (instead of jpg/png) so the app loads way quicker. It’s a bit of a manual grind but will make a big difference 👀
Recently shipped improvements now live in The Beach Search.
There are still a handful we’re adding — including 'The Beach' near the airport, Kurnell Boat Harbour (4WD access), and the Bundeena → Burning Palms stretch. They’re all technically Greater Sydney, so we want them included.
